The Need to Know Before Heading To a Winery

Image
Photo courtesy of Midwest Living Have you ever wanted to plan a day trip to a winery?  Visiting a winery is a fun get-away with friends or it can be a romantic time for you and the honey! 3 Ladies on a Vine have visited many wineries throughout the years with small and large groups. We have learned it's best to research and call ahead before heading out on your wine adventure. There are so many different type of wineries, some being small and quaint that can only handle a small group, or some that are equipped to handle hundreds. We visited one winery and they were hosting a festival, so they were not doing any wine tastings. We also visited a winery where they were prepping for a wedding that evening and didn't have enough staff for our large group. We want you to have a good time, so we prepared a list of tips and questions before heading out! Most wineries have websites which show pictures, have a list of their wines and prices, tasting times and prices, the food men...

Wine & Coloring

Image
Being an adult can be so stressful and we reminisce of the simpler times when we were kids. Remember coloring for hours on end with no care in the world? Don't you wish for those days again? Coloring for adults has become a phenomenon all across the world. Many famous artists are creating masterpieces that we can color and let our inner child out. Coloring has been proven by psychologist to help us destress, reduce activity and it's meditation for the brain. It helps our brain focus on an activity and not our worries. Of course we cannot eliminate wine in any activity we do, so we thought it would be a cool idea to come together for a wine and coloring party. It's a very simple and inexpensive party to throw. We decided to go to the store to pick out some cool coloring books and new markers! We headed to Michaels and Five Below and they had all sorts of adult coloring books. We found everything from comic characters, to mermaids, to political coloring books. One t...

3 Ladies on a Vine at The Eckert's Annual Wine & Food Festival The 3 ladies recently had the pleasure of attending the Annual Wine and Food Festival at Eckert’s Country Store and Farms . Eckert’s Belleville Country Store is located in Belleville, IL., nestled in a small town about 18 miles from St. Louis Missouri. Each time we visit the country store, we feel at home. The staff always has a smiling face and eager to help answer any question.  This year’s festival cost was $20.00 and was worth every penny.  The festival featured over 30 wines from Missouri as well as nearby states by the way of Indiana and Kentucky. There were also other beverages featured such as locally produced vodka, craft beers, hard cider and whiskey.  The festival also offered cooking demos and product samplings of applewurst sausage, local cheeses, meats, pickles, salsa, dips, sweets and much more.   cheese from Marcoot Jersey Creamery...

Irish Cheese & Wine Pairings

Kerrygold Aged Cheddar, Blarney. Dubliner and Chardonnay When you think of St. Patrick's Day and Ireland, the first thing that pops in your head is the color green and of course beer. Last year Ireland drunk 694 million pints of beer. That is a lot of beer! Ireland is also known for excellent dairy and especially cheese. Ireland has lush green grass where the cows can graze for months, which results in mouth-watering cheese. Kerrygold Irish Cheese prides themselves by having their cows graze for at least 300 days before they produce any butter or cheese. As we all know wine and cheese go hand and hand. Why not celebrate St. Patrick's Day with some authentic Irish cheese and your favorite wine. Dubliner A robust somewhat sweet & nutty cheese, with a bit of a hard texture. Wine Pairing:  Merlot, Sangiovese, & Chardonnay Blarney Castle  A mild and creamy cheese that is rich and velvety.    Wine Pairing:   Sauvignon Blanc...
