How to Make Dyed Rice 4th of July Candle Centerpieces

learn how to make dyed rice centerpieces for the 4th of July.

4th of July is right around the corner, and we came up with a fun and festive way to use those extra wine glasses! These dyed rice candle centerpieces are uber cute, super easy and very expensive. Throw in some citronella candles and you can also keep away those pesky bugs! We had a fabulous evening creating these and afterwards, we hung out in the yard enjoying some wine of course!

What you need!
1. Wine glasses (or mason jars)
2. Inexpensive white rice (1 cup for each color)
3. Red & Blue food coloring or icing gels
4. Gallon storage bags.

Directions
Wilton icing gels
Place a cup of rice in a gallon storage bag and drop in your red food coloring. Work the food coloring into the rice until it's all covered into a bright red.

Repeat the same step with the blue food coloring as you did with the red one.

Dye rice using food coloring.
Place the rice on a lined cookie sheet with the colors separated.

Place in a pre-heated 350 degree oven and bake for 5-7 minutes to set the dye.

Now fill your wine glass, putting the blue rice at the bottom, the plain white rice in the middle and the red rice at the top. Top with a tea light candle. If your centerpieces will be used for an outdoor gathering, remember you can use a citronella candle to keep the bugs away!

Wine on the 4th of July
We hope everyone has a safe and memorable 4th of July. This craft can also be a fun experience for the little ones. They can fill mason jars, while you fill the wine glasses. Remember to drive responsibly this holiday season!
