Wine & Coloring

Being an adult can be so stressful and we reminisce of the simpler times when we were kids. Remember coloring for hours on end with no care in the world? Don't you wish for those days again? Coloring for adults has become a phenomenon all across the world. Many famous artists are creating masterpieces that we can color and let our inner child out. Coloring has been proven by psychologist to help us destress, reduce activity and it's meditation for the brain. It helps our brain focus on an activity and not our worries.

Of course we cannot eliminate wine in any activity we do, so we thought it would be a cool idea to come together for a wine and coloring party. It's a very simple and inexpensive party to throw.

We decided to go to the store to pick out some cool coloring books and new markers! We headed to Michaels and Five Below and they had all sorts of adult coloring books. We found everything from comic characters, to mermaids, to political coloring books. One thing we did notice is that the adult coloring books are more detailed with small patterns. We learned that many of the coloring books use symmetrical patterns called mandalas, originating from India. It was so fun to find a coloring book that fit our interests and personality. Both stores had loads of artist quality fine tip markers in every color imaginable. At Five Below we even found metallic markers that give your coloring sheets a dynamic look. You can also print out adult coloring sheets at home and use your kids art stuff, if they are not all dried out or broken!

When is comes to picking out the wine, don't even stress over it. We used bottles we had at the house, some open and some not. We gathered around the table and took out our new stuff. The child like giggles and smiles were already hitting us looking at all our new markers and coloring books. We then started to pour the wine and immediately began coloring. It was so relaxing just mixing and matching colors and letting our creativity flow. There were no kids around, just adult coloring time with peace and quiet.

Remember, you don't have to throw a party to enjoy coloring, use it as your zen time. Turn on relaxing music, pour a glass of wine, and color the night away. Just escape and let your inner child out. Melt the stress away one color and sip of wine at a time.
