Cinco De Mayo Wine Cocktails

Cinco De Mayo has become very popular and is now celebrated all over the world. You may ask why do we celebrate Cinco De Mayo? The day is observed to commemorate the Mexican's Army victory over the French Empire on May 5, 1862; but as we all know with any holiday, it starts to become more about the fun, food, and liquor! We need any excuse to celebrate and enjoy tasty cuisine and cocktails, and Mexican food is the best food especially when you're drinking.

We created two Cinco De Mayo favorites that do not include tequila. Although tequila is the traditional Mexican spirit, it can be too harsh on the stomach, and we still have to go to work the next day. Don't worry these cocktails still have excellent flavor and taste close to the originals.

Wine-A-Rita

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of orange juice concentrate
Juice of 4 to 5 limes
Juice of 2 lemons
1/4 cup sugar
4 ounces of Triple sec or orange liqueur (4 shots)
1 bottle of white wine (Pinot Grigio)
Salt, limes, and oranges to garnish

Directions

*In a pitcher combine the orange, lime, lemon juice and sugar and stir until combined.

*Pour in the bottle of wine and triple sec and stir.

*Wet the rim of the margarita glass and dip in salt (optional)*

*Pour cocktail in a margarita glass filled with ice

*Garnish with limes and orange wedges

Winejito

Ingredients

2 Limes
6 Fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup chilled Sauvignon Blanc
1/4 cup San Pellegrino Limonata or club soda
(The Limonite just gives it the spot on Mojito taste)
1 teaspoon agave nectar
Ice

Directions

*In a cocktail shaker muddle the lime, mint, and agave together.
You do not need a fancy tool, we used a ice cream scooper.

*Add ice & the chilled Sauvignon Blanc and shake.

*Pour in a wine glass and then top it off with the Limonata

*Add more mint and a lime wedge
