Tapas & Wine

Sangria made at Bella Vino Wine Bar in St. Charles, MO.
Recently, we got invited by a musician to hear him play at a Tapas Bar, called Bella Vino Wine Bar and Tapas. All we had to hear was wine and food and we were there. The restaurant was located in the historic downtown district of St. Charles, MO. The downtown is quaint with cobblestone streets and historic buildings. The vibe is very inviting.

What are Tapas? They are a wide variety of small plate, savory dishes in Spanish cuisine. Similar to appetizers or hors d'oeuvres. The tapas can be cold (such as cheese and crackers) or hot (such as pasta).

Bella Vino was so warm and intimate. We felt like we were walking into someone's home. We couldn't wait to have some wine and reconnect. There were numerous selections to choose from, it's a good thing we had a knowledgable waitress. We decided to start with the waitress recommendation, their speciality made Sangria. It was delicious! "Cheers" We also ordered a salad, meatballs, and a mouthwatering skillet mac and cheese as our Tapas selections. The first thing we learned, don't go on an empty stomach. You will not get a full meal of steak, potatoes, and fixings. Rumor has it's to encourage people to focus on having meaningful conversations instead of eating. We definitely could have eaten more so decided to order more wine!

It's always cheaper to buy a bottle of wine at a restaurant.
Our waitress was very informative at giving suggestions on what we should eat and drink since this was our first time. She even let us sample the wines prior to making a selection. We decided on a bottle of wine because it's more cost effective. We decided on Tie Dye Red Blend for our bottle. It's a blend of six different wines. Including Syrah, Barbera, Merlot, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Syrah. The waitress popped the cork and we all agreed it was strong and flavorful. We then headed out to the patio with our bottle to hear the sounds of Vinnis Bryant on the saxophone.

It was a well needed venture out to Bella Vino Wine Bar and Tapas. We learned more about Tapas, we laughed, and more importantly we tried new wines. We will definitely come back but we also

want to visit more tapas spots. Our bill came to $100, so if you're budget conscious like us, you can save a tapas spot for a special occasion. Or you can have your own tapas party at home. Each person can bring a tapas and a bottle of wine.
