Fissata Sweet Red Pairing - Snickers Caramel Apples Recipe

Just in time for Thanksgiving, these Snickers Caramel Apples are the perfect, mouthwatering after dinner treat. They will stand up against any cake or pie due to the layers of flavors. You have the sweet from the snickers, caramel, and white chocolate, the tart from the green apples, and the earthiness from the pecans. Also, just holding any treat on a stick makes us happy.

We are pairing it with the Traveling Vineyard Fissata Sweet Red

Fizzy, Fruity, and Fabulous

Translucent, dark watermelon red in color, this release opens with floral, sweet-ish stone fruit over a raspberry-ish nose. A well-integrated palate of sweet fruity red berries and a nutty quality are repeated in the mouth. Gentle effervescence makes for an overall pleasing dessert wine experience.   Varietal Baco Noir, Catawba, Concord - Alcohol 5.97 - Region New York

What you need!

Parchment paper, 1 bag of Caramel Bites, 1 bag of white candy melts, 1 king size Snickers, 1 cup of pecans, 4 medium size granny smith apples, and apple sticks

Directions

1. Wash and dry apples
2. Remove the apple stems
3. In a small bowl break/crunch the pecans and snickers into small pieces.
4. Insert the sticks into the bottom of the apples with the pointy side of the stick.
5. Melt the caramel bits (these are found in the baking aisle next to the chocolate chips) - follow the directions on the back of the pack.
6. Once the caramel is melted, dip the apples into the caramel. Make sure the entire apple is covered. If it's easier to use a spoon, do what is easiest for you.
7. Place your apple on a piece of parchment paper and let it cool
8. Pour your white candy melts in a microwave safe bowl (these can be found at craft stores and Walmart in the candy and cake decorating section).
7. Microwave on the defrost setting of your microwave. Do not microwave on the regular setting, the melts will burn. (TIP) - Use a tsp of crisco, non flavored vegetable oil or hot milk .. it will thin the chocolate out and make it easier to work with. Start with a tsp and keep adding if need be. We used warm milk.
9. Once your white chocolate is melted, Dip your caramel apples into the white chocolate. Only covering 1/2 of the apple.
10. While the white chocolate is hot add the snickers and pecan mix on top of the white chocolate. It may look like it's sliding down but it will eventually harden.
11. Allow the apples to cool & enjoy!
- To store, wrap each apple in clear plastic wrap and store in the fridge -
